Since 1995 Bellingen Urban Landcarers have been regenerating many of the waterways in our beautiful town Bellingen. This has been a successful collaboration of volunteers, committee members, various conservation teams and contractors.

Little by little this collective effort has removed rubbish and weeds, constructed fences and bridges, planted and regenerated native species and generally rejuvenated ten Landcare sites.

Working Bees

If you'd like to join this community effor come along to one of our working bees, which are usually held on the fourth Sunday of the month from 9am-12pm. These are a fun way to meet people, learn about bush regeneration and indulge in our morning teas. And most of all to make a real difference!

If you’d like to join our email mailing list to find out when working bees are happening please click here to email Steve.

Restoration Guide

We recently produced a Restoration Guide full of simple ideas about what you can do to regenerate your own yard. The guide is specifically written for the environment and climate of the Bellingen Shire.

If you would like a copy mailed to you please click here to email us (don't forget to include your postal address).

Lots happening!
End of Year Presentation
View slides from our chairperson Charlie Brennan's Bellingen Urban Landcare November 2009 Presentation.

Working Bees
We're holding our Sunday working bees once a month this year, on the fourth Sunday of the month. There are also midweek working bees some Thursdays.

Bush Tucker Walk and Exhibition
We'll be doing lots of work on the bush tucker walk planting in Cemetery Creek. We held a successful Bush Tucker art exhibition on September 30 2009 at Bellingen Library with help and presentations from the Green Corps team and music from the fantastic Gumbaynggirr Elders Choir

The Point and the western end of Bellingen Island
This area is a major focus for us at present. We've been working on ground with volunteers and contractors to start the huge job of trying to tame and plant out this majorly weed-infested area.

Funding
We've been successful in getting some funding from the NSW Government's Environmental Trust programme and through Bellingen Council's Environmental Levy to help us manage and work on these projects.

Green Corps
We were lucky enough to have a fantastic Green Corps team helping with our work for a few months in 2009, from April to October. Thanks team!

Bellingen EYE
We're also been working with the passionate and inspired youth from Bellingen EYE.
